Walking with her mother on the way home from school one day, Lily
encounters a man in a raggedy coat selling papers on the street. Lily
is afraid of the Paper Man but when the weather turns cold, she begins
to see him differently. As she lies in bed one night she wonders how
the Paper Man stays warm. She wakes in the morning knowing what to do.
